Blogging from A to Z Challenge

Blogging from A to Z Challenge

Due to the COVID-19 challenges our world is facing, the Maine Features visits are on hold. Though I’m disappointed to not be on the road, I am excited to announce some upcoming plans for the site.

April Challenge

Fun news for older and younger Mainers who want to learn more about their state: I am participating in the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. The goal is to add one blog post every day — with the exception of Sundays — throughout the month of April. Each one will be based on a consecutive letter of the alphabet. My overall theme is THIS MAINE LIFE. I may write about Maine places or foods or industries or history or landmarks or…you get the idea!

The “A to Z” content will be new to my blog and based on research I am conducting throughout the month. I hope these posts will be both enjoyable and educational for us all. Before everything was shut down over the virus, I grabbed a tall stack of library books that cover a vast array of Maine history and topics. I want to go deeper in my understanding of this amazing state and discover new-to-me details — especially in areas that are familiar.

I’ve already decided on the entire A to Z line-up. It wasn’t easy! Many of the letters had a large number of good options. Some of the words I selected may be very obvious (I did avoid “M is for Maine”). Others might seem more random. The list is my own creation, and logic shouldn’t be expected!

If you have older students, they may enjoy following along and guessing ahead of time what word I chose for the letter of the day. A printable download is available with a simple worksheet to fill out as we go along. It’s free! No email required; just click the link at the end of this post.

So welcome along for this new adventure. Make sure you’re connected to Maine Features on your favorite social media platform (links below or via the three dots on your mobile bar) as I’ll be taking guesses and having a good time with this challenge. If you’re a newsletter subscriber, the weekly emails will connect you to the past 6 letters of the alphabet.

Let’s have fun. Stay well.
